Mike Diamond of the Beastie Boys decided he wanted a Brooklyn inspired toile wallpaper that would line the walls of his Brooklyn brownstone. The vision was to pay tribute to all things Brooklyn in a way that would appear to be a traditional French Country Toile, but when you step to it the pattern reveals elements and vignettes that make up the truth about Brooklyn. Mike approached Vincent J. Ficarra and Adela Qersaqi of Revolver New York to help execute his vision artistically and Flavor Paper to produce the design as wallpaper.
Brooklyn Toile captures the King’s borough from Coney Island to Hasidic Jews to the greatest rapper of all time to our own Boerum Hill. Daily life in the bk dealing with subways, pigeons, stroller moms, and b-boys makin’ the freak freak is all up in there. Like Sam the butcher bringing Alice the meat – go on and get some!!!
This was previously a print on demand item, but demand has won out and Brooklyn Toile is now a readily available EZ Papes Wallpaper! This means it is easy to install, easy to remove and eco-friendly. If you’d still like something more durable – say Type II silky canvas textured vinyl? – just hit us up on the phone for a made to order option.
We’re proud to announce that as part of our Positive FeedBack initiative, 25% of website sales (from April 21st through May 31st) from Brooklyn Toile will be donated to East Bay FeedER and Frontline Foods to help support local restaurants and feed healthcare heroes during the COVID-19 crisis.
