Created by Dan Funderburgh for Wythe Hotel, this nouveau toile is a delicate tribute to their perfectly imperfect block in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Specifically the corner of North 11th and Wythe, where the sights visible from their rooms and bar reveal the illustrated scenes.
The deep, sultry Midnight Green linework subtly contrasts with the thunder gray clay coated paper background, creating a tone-on-tone effect that reads almost like greenblack on gray, resulting in an elegant yet understated design.
Dan Funderburgh's witty, contemporary twist on traditional wallpaper illustrations made him the first Flavor Paper artist collaboration in 2005. We've been creating beautifully mischievous and irreverent wallpapers since. Dan has an uncanny ability to mash up geometric and floral patterns with classical and comical content.
