Permanent Sunset

Artist Liz Collins’ Permanent Sunset is a fluid geometric story told in dynamic strips of color inspired by stills from the edgy 1982 cult classic film Liquid Sky, which zeroes in on the subculture of downtown New York’s club scene in the early New Wave era. Collins creatively captures the pleasure centers of our brains, a prominent aspect of the film’s story and art direction. 

A ray of sunshine, Over Easy is a colorway alive with vibrant oranges and bright white with pops of mirror gold from the Mylar substrate, all tempered by the soft metallic peach background.

Liz Collins, a Brooklyn-based RISD graduate and teacher, works fluidly between art and design, with emphasis and expertise in textile media. Collins' deconstructed fabric and knit-grafting works are in public collections in museums and gallery spaces nationwide.
