Artist Liz Collins’ Permanent Sunset is a fluid geometric story told in dynamic strips of color inspired by stills from the edgy 1982 cult classic film Liquid Sky, which zeroes in on the subculture of downtown New York’s club scene in the early New Wave era. Collins creatively captures the pleasure centers of our brains, a prominent aspect of the film’s story and art direction.
Pansy is a handscreened colorway with transparent pink and blue color-shifting powders that are dynamic and full of depth on a mirror-finish orange copper Mylar substrate, which pops from behind a matte cream background.
Liz Collins, a Brooklyn-based RISD graduate and teacher, works fluidly between art and design, with emphasis and expertise in textile media. Collins' deconstructed fabric and knit-grafting works are in public collections in museums and gallery spaces nationwide.
