Sun or starlight glinting off of the ripples and waves in water or snow creates a dazzling effect of dancing light. This effect of sun/star glitter inspired artist Josh Minnie’s Starglint wallpaper design. The handscreened half tone pattern is printed on reflective materials to achieve the same effect you get when staring out at a body of water or snow covered peak at the prime time of the day. The overall effect is a field of texture with bright reflective areas moving as the light shifts, recreating this glorious natural effect.
For our Deep Water colorway, we handscreen transparent blue ink onto a chrome Mylar substrate to capture the specular reflection you get from mirror-like flat areas of water and shimmering paths of sparkles from the waves.
Iowa native Josh Minnie has an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Tennessee and was a Master Printer with Flavor Paper working on the handscreened and digital sides for over ten years. A skilled graphic designer, Josh has created a number of fantastic wallpaper designs.
