Élan Vital

Élan Vital is a romantic meets rock and roll modern interpretation of a floral still life. Utilizing the incomparable floral arranging skills of Ovando, this refreshing atmospheric take on the classic work of art evokes a similar reproduction of inanimate flowers, but at an ultra hi-res level of photographic detail captured by Skot Yobauje Photography. Flavor Paper worked closely with Ovando to create dynamically shaped floral arrangements featuring a global selection of flora. While traditional still life artists were limited to what was available locally, we utilized an incredibly broad range of global floral species.

Orchid is a digitally printed mural with a floral arrangement floating in the center on a black background. The flowers feature a green and violet orchid, bright red coral-esque jatropha firecracker, pink peony, yellow and peach roses, burgundy calla lily, orange pincushion protea, gray-green succulents, green fiddlehead ferns, purple allium and more in incredible detail.

Sandra de Ovando was born in Mexico City and fell in love with nature, flowers and bold colors at a very young age when she spent countless weekends gardening with her mother. Later, in her travels throughout Europe and Asia, Sandra discovered exquisite flowers and plants, and from there, her love for design was born. Her namesake floral design business, Ovando, started in New York in 2003 specializing in simple, colorful, sophisticated arrangements.
