Warhol’s 1984 ink blot paintings were inspired by the 1920s Swiss psychological tests used to examine personality characteristics. Each of the massive half paintings (one side was folded over the other to create the second half of the print) Warhol created is unique with individual characteristics. Flavor Paper created a damask pattern showcasing eight ink blot paintings in a framework also constructed from ink blots. Analyze that.
Squid Ink is a cosmopolitan, near-black, dark blue-printed background that allows the black Mylar ground to present the ink blots as dark mirrors, adding movement and intrigue.
Andy Warhol was a leading figure in the pop art movement of the 1960s and is considered one of the most important artists of the late 20th Century. The Andy Warhol x Flavor Paper Collection represents our interpretations of Warhol's work—some iconic and others handpicked from deep in the artist's archives—released in a globally exclusive partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts ongoing since 2013.
