Welcome to the Flavor Lair, our Brooklyn headquarters that we’ve called home since 2009 when we decided it was time to expand out of our original Flavor Lab in New Orleans. Located at 216 Pacific Street at the junction of Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights and Downtown Brooklyn, we’re right in the heart of the borough scene with Manhattan at our fingertips. What we’re saying is that it’s easy for anyone to get here, and worth the visit!
The award-winning Skylab Architecture design features many unexpected elements, including an open kitchen concept on the ground level so that passerby can watch our artists cook up tasty handscreened wallpaper from the sidewalk. It’s a fun way to let everyone really see how the patterns come together through numerous screens overlaying pattern and color in the 70’ long overhead mirrors. The second floor contains our offices and incredible showroom. The showroom is truly one-of-a-kind as the layout is based off of our Cycloid pattern and allows a single client or a full firm to sit comfortably and see our patterns in their true glory. We have so many huge, intricate, light reactive wallpapers that they must be experienced in person to truly appreciate them, and our giant spinning racks allow you to see hundreds of options in full scale and multiple repeats. The offices have Power Plant in custom colors on the ceiling which keeps us inspired daily. The upper floors house a few of the Flavor People, possibly the craziest hallway in Brooklyn and a phenomenal rooftop meadow that has nice views of Sakura, Kabloom, and Manhattan.
Pattern is integral to the building design and is showcased throughout in many different forms. The staircase has the five story back wall papered in custom colored Sakura and we had Lite Brite create a neon sculpture of the pattern to run up the center to add some curb appeal—and make you want to take the steps. That’s not to say that our blacklight wallpapered elevator isn’t an experience either.
If you’d like to take a spin around the Lair please schedule an appointment by calling 718.422.0230. We’d love to show you what we do and what we can do for you.
P.S. Our digital capabilities and designs have become so dynamic that we needed to find a production place of its own to call home—Industry City (also in Brooklyn) is where that magic happens.
