Andy Warhol was obsessed with money. He began drawing and silk screening images of dollar bills in the 1960s and by the 1970s, Warhol’s focal point was on the nexus between art and commerce. Dollar Signs, large screen printed canvases created in the wealth-crazed Regan era of the early 1980s have become some of his most iconic works. Flavor Paper incorporated numerous versions of dollar signs drawn, painted and screen printed throughout Warhol’s career to create Money – a digitally printed 104” wide repeating pattern with plenty of pop. Andy liked to say money is art and it should be hung on the wall.
The Color of Money colorway features dollar signs in a multitude of colors with a matte black background. The chrome Mylar substrate option allows the transparent rainbow of colors to have a flashy metallic sheen befitting of the subject matter, while the eco smooth matte substrate is non-reflective, yet still vibrant.
Andy Warhol was a leading figure in the pop art movement of the 1960s and is considered one of the most important artists of the late 20th Century.
