This image was shot by frequent Flavor Paper collaborator, photographer Boone Speed in Yangshuo, China. Boone is a true adventurer and many of his images have a great story behind them; this one is no exception. Here is that story in Boone’s own words: “In 2009 a good buddy Mike Call and I had the brilliant idea of taking a hot air balloon ride to capture the beauty of the area. Mike assured me that the balloon pilots understand the air currents and have the balloon completely under control. That was a lie. Once airborne, it turns out, the balloon’s flight pattern is completely random, which is why vans called “balloon chasers” rally frantically around in the roads beneath, following the balloon’s random path. During the flight, we came within inches of colliding with one of these karst limestone features, which would’ve been really, really bad. Alas, we survived and did capture some epic imagery before crash landing in a rural cemetery.”

Process

Flavor Paper produces wallpaper by hand screened and digital printing, sometimes both for special projects. All aspects of production are in-house, so we can maintain our exacting perfectionist standards. We use water based or eco-solvent inks to be as green as possible and only print on the finest materials. Flavor Paper quality is unsurpassed. All Flavor Paper is produced to order, so you are free to interchange colors and grounds with handscreened wallpaper and can choose scale and colors for digital wallpaper. It’s your world. Installation Guides

Wallpaper installation is a serious craft and takes many years of practice and experience to become a master hanger. Flavor Paper prints on some finicky materials with matches and layouts that can get confusing so, for the sake of your walls, we highly recommend using a professional installer.
