Sherm’s Spot

Flavor Lair Brooklyn, NY

*custom

After many years in New Orleans, some ties to the city that care forgot were necessary in the new Flavor Lair in Brooklyn and especially in owner Jon Sherman’s apartment. One solution came in the form of a digital wallpaper homage to the extremely unique Mardi Gras Indian culture of New Orleans. A black and white photograph by Mac Carbonell was scaled and colored to work perfectly in the tight DJ booth surroundings. The beyond life size images of Big Chief Little Charles of the White Cloud Hunters, James “12” Andrews Sr. and his nephew Aldo make the DJ look like they are in the midst of a full on Mardi Gras celebration. This was the first installation produced by Flavor Paper’s new Digital Flavor wallpaper division.

The rest of the loft is slightly more tame with Rio Crocodillo in Caiman, which Jon designed for the space, on the entry and kitchen walls and Sheba in custom colors on the bedroom ceiling. Then crazy Flavor sets in again in the master bath with Celestial Dragon in transparent hot pink on chrome with black torn look to tie the color pops together.
